The story of this car

Ferrari’s First Four-Seat Grand Tourer
With the 250 engine, Ferrari creates a new family of cars that will significantly advance the company. This range is based on a 3-liter V12 designed by Gioacchino Colombo, which proves to be flexible and adaptable for both touring and competition use. It is with the 250 that the suffix 'GT', for Gran Turismo, first appears, and it is this engine that will equip the famous, abundantly titled GTOs, now considered the most iconic sports cars in the world. For the road versions, the sober PF coupé gives way in 1960 to a groundbreaking Ferrari, the 250 GTE. Signed Pinin Farina, it is the first of the marque to offer four seats, including two small ones in the rear. It was used as a 'pace-car' at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1960 before its official presentation at the Paris Motor Show in October. It was an immediate, enormous success, reaching a production of nearly a thousand units. For Ferrari, this was unprecedented. This car, popular with industry magnates as well as film actors and show-biz stars, would greatly contribute to the brand's worldwide renown. The 250 GTE remained in the shadow of other more prestigious models in the 250 family for a long time, but in recent years, it has taken its rightful place in the hearts of collectors, who are no longer hesitant to incur significant expenses to keep their cars in beautiful condition.
