The 296 GTS, Maranello's latest evolution of the mid-rear-engined, two-seater berlinetta spider, sports the same sculpted lines as the 296 GTB model from which it is derived, and additionally features a retractable roof capable of deploying in just 14 seconds up to 45 km/h.
The separation line between the car's bodywork and the roof is located above the B-pillar, and this folding roof splits into two sections that retract flush with the front of the engine. When the roof is retracted, the cabin and the rear deck are separated by a height-adjustable glass rear screen that ensures optimal passenger comfort.
Mechanically, the car is powered by the same plug-in hybrid powertrain that powers the 296 GTB. This is built around a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine producing 663 hp, to which a 167 hp electric motor is grafted, thus giving the model a total output of 830 hp and 740 Nm. The entire assembly is paired with an 8-speed gearbox and the E-Diff system, and Ferrari specifies that on the 296 GTS model, the patented 'hot tube' adopted on the 296 GTB, and positioned before the exhaust gas treatment systems, has been completely revised to further enhance the engine sound, whether the roof is deployed or retracted.
The performance of this 296 GTS is around 330 km/h in terms of top speed, and a time of 2.9 seconds is announced for the 0 to 100 km/h sprint (allow 7.6 seconds for 0 to 200 km/h). Performance that can be sustained through the adoption of the Assetto Fiorano pack, already seen on the SF90 Stradale, which will allow the 296 GTS to gain lightness and have its aerodynamics significantly revised, to guarantee it increased performance on the track. An Assetto Fiorano pack that will finally allow future buyers of this 296 GTS, if they wish, to opt for a special livery inspired by the 250 Le Mans.
The car presented is a first-hand vehicle delivered new by Ferrari Francorchamps. It is in a Blu Nart livery (option costing... 23,000 euros...) with a sand leather interior and Daytona carbon bucket seats. The car is particularly well-configured with numerous blue accents in the cabin. Full PPF
