Ferrari 360 Modena for Sale Specs, Performance and Market Value Guide

The Ferrari 360 Modena marked a major step forward in Ferrari’s V8 lineage, combining improved usability with modern engineering. With its 400 hp naturally aspirated V8 and lightweight aluminium construction, it offers a balanced and engaging driving experience.

History

Ferrari introduced the Ferrari 360 Modena in 1999 as the successor to the F355, representing a significant shift in both design and engineering. The name “Modena” refers to Enzo Ferrari’s birthplace, while “360” reflects the car’s 3.6-liter V8 engine. Compared to its predecessor, the Ferrari 360 Modena was designed to be more accessible and usable, without sacrificing performance. This approach broadened its appeal, making it a more versatile sports car. Alongside the coupé, Ferrari also offered the 360 Spider, as well as more focused variants developed for both road and track use.

Technical Details

The Ferrari 360 Modena is powered by a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated V8, producing 400 hp (296 kW) and 373 Nm of torque. The engine is mounted at a 90-degree angle and delivers power through either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed F1 automated manual transmission. The F1 system, although single-clutch, was advanced for its time and became the more commonly specified option. One of the most important technical advancements of the 360 is its aluminium chassis, which significantly improved rigidity while reducing weight compared to the F355.

Performance

The Ferrari 360 Modena accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 295 km/h. While slightly less aggressive than the F355, the 360 offers a more approachable driving experience, making it better suited to everyday use while still delivering strong performance. The naturally aspirated V8 provides a responsive and engaging character, reinforcing its position as a true driver’s car.

Dimensions and Weight

The Ferrari 360 Modena measures 4.477 mm in length, 1.922 mm in width, and 1.235 mm in height. The use of an aluminium chassis contributes to improved weight distribution and structural rigidity, enhancing both performance and handling characteristics.

Design

The Ferrari 360 Modena represents a clear departure from the design language of the F355. The body is more rounded and aerodynamic, with larger air intakes and smoother surfaces that reflect its modern engineering. The overall design focuses on airflow and efficiency, while maintaining Ferrari’s characteristic proportions and visual balance.

Interior

The interior of the Ferrari 360 Modena has a more rugged and race-inspired feel compared to later Ferrari models. Exposed elements such as visible fasteners and functional detailing give the cabin a purposeful character. Despite this, the car remains comfortable enough for regular use, reinforcing its position as a more accessible Ferrari.

Variants

Ferrari expanded the Ferrari 360 range with several notable variants. The 360 Challenge Stradale represents the most focused road-going version, developed with input from Michael Schumacher. Power increases to 425 hp, while weight is reduced through the use of carbon fiber and simplified interior components. Only 1.288 examples of the Challenge Stradale were produced, making it significantly rarer than the standard model. For motorsport, Ferrari developed the 360 GT, a track-only car built for endurance racing. From this, the 360 GTC was created, featuring further aerodynamic refinements and improved performance.

Prices

The Ferrari 360 Modena is widely regarded as an accessible entry point into Ferrari ownership. Prices typically range from around €90.000 to €140.000, depending on condition, mileage, and specification. The Challenge Stradale commands a significant premium, with values often exceeding €250.000, reflecting its rarity and track-focused nature.
