About the 812 Superfast
Ferrari introduced the 812 Superfast in 2017 as the successor to the F12 Berlinetta, continuing the long lineage of front-engined V12 grand tourers. The model represents a further evolution of Ferrari’s approach to combining extreme performance with usability. In 2019, Ferrari added the 812 GTS, bringing back an open-top V12 configuration in this segment. Later, Ferrari introduced the more focused 812 Competizione and the open Competizione A, both produced in strictly limited numbers. A total of 999 Competizione coupés and 599 Competizione A examples were built. The 812 is widely seen as one of the final naturally aspirated V12 Ferraris before the brand transitions further toward electrification.
Technical Details
At the heart of the Ferrari 812 lies a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, one of the most powerful engines Ferrari has ever fitted to a road car. In the 812 Superfast and GTS, the engine produces 800 hp (588 kW) at 8.500 rpm and 718 Nm of torque at 7.000 rpm. In Competizione form, output increases to 830 hp, alongside a significantly higher rev limit. The engine is mounted as far back as possible within the chassis, creating a layout that approaches mid-engine balance. Power is delivered through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Advanced systems such as rear-wheel steering and sophisticated electronic controls enhance agility and reduce understeer, while aerodynamic improvements generate significantly more downforce without increasing drag.
Performance
The Ferrari 812 delivers performance that places it among the fastest front-engined cars ever produced. The Ferrari 812 Superfast and GTS accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 340 km/h.
In Competizione form, performance is taken even further. Acceleration improves slightly, while the engine revs to an extraordinary 9,500 rpm. The result is a driving experience defined not only by speed, but by the intensity and character of the naturally aspirated V12. The sound produced at high revs is widely regarded as one of the defining characteristics of the car, reinforcing its position as one of the most emotional modern Ferraris.
Dimensions and Weight
The Ferrari 812 Superfast and GTS measure 4,657 mm in length, 1,971 mm in width, and 1,276 mm in height. Dry weight is approximately 1.525 kg for the Superfast and 1.600 kg for the GTS. The Competizione is slightly longer due to aerodynamic modifications, while weight is reduced to around 1.487 kg through extensive use of lightweight materials.
Design
The Ferrari 812 was designed by Ferrari’s in-house design team and reflects a more aggressive interpretation of the classic front-engined V12 layout. The long bonnet and compact rear proportions emphasise the car’s engine placement, while aerodynamic elements are integrated throughout the bodywork to enhance performance.
In Competizione form, the design becomes more extreme, with additional vents, a redesigned rear section, and active aerodynamic features that increase downforce significantly.
Interior
The interior of the Ferrari 812 combines a driver-focused layout with modern technology and high-quality materials. Controls are centred around the steering wheel, following Ferrari’s Formula 1-inspired approach, while the cabin offers a level of comfort expected from a grand tourer. Despite its performance capabilities, the 812 remains suitable for longer journeys, reinforcing its dual character as both a high-performance machine and a GT car.
Prices
The Ferrari 812 occupies a unique position in the market as one of the last naturally aspirated V12 Ferraris. Prices for a standard 812 Superfast typically start just above €250.000 and can rise significantly depending on specification and mileage. The limited 812 Competizione and Competizione A command a substantial premium, with prices often exceeding €2 million. As demand for naturally aspirated V12 Ferraris continues to grow, the 812 is increasingly viewed as a future classic within Ferrari’s modern lineup.
