History
The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 were introduced in 2018 as the first models in Ferrari’s ICONA series. These cars were created to celebrate Ferrari’s racing heritage, drawing direct inspiration from models such as the 750 Monza and 850 Monza of the 1950s. Production was strictly limited, with each car offered to a select group of Ferrari clients. The SP1 features a single-seat configuration, while the SP2 offers space for two occupants. Both models represent Ferrari’s approach to combining modern engineering with historical design influences.
Technical Details
The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 are powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12, derived from the engine used in the 812 Superfast. In this application, the engine produces 810 hp (596 kW) at 8.500 rpm and 719 Nm of torque at 7.000 rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The setup prioritises performance while maintaining the character of a naturally aspirated Ferrari V12.
Performance
The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 deliver performance that matches their appearance. The Ferrari Monza accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 300 km/h. The absence of a traditional windshield creates a unique driving experience, placing the driver directly in the airflow and reinforcing the connection between car and environment.
Dimensions and Weight
The Ferrari Monza measures 4.657 mm in length, 1.996 mm in width, and just 1.115 mm in height. The SP1 has a curb weight of approximately 1.500 kg, while the SP2 adds around 20 kg due to its two-seat configuration. Extensive use of carbon fiber contributes to weight reduction and structural rigidity.
Design
The design of the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 is directly inspired by Ferrari’s 1950s racing barchettas. The absence of a windshield, the long bonnet, and the sculpted rear sections all reference historic race cars, while modern aerodynamic solutions ensure stability at higher speeds. The SP1 distinguishes itself through its single-seat layout, with a carbon panel covering the passenger side. The SP2 maintains a more conventional two-seat configuration. Each car is highly individual, with owners specifying unique colour schemes and details through Ferrari’s Tailor Made programme.
Interior
The interior of the Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 reflects a minimalist and highly focused approach. Carbon fiber is used extensively throughout the cabin, complemented by leather elements that add a level of refinement. The seats are integrated into the structure, with harnesses reinforcing the car’s racing character. Controls are arranged around the central tunnel and steering wheel, ensuring that all key functions remain within easy reach of the driver.
Prices
The Ferrari Monza SP1 and SP2 occupy a unique position within Ferrari’s modern lineup as part of the ICONA series. Values are firmly in the multi-million euro range, reflecting their limited production and highly exclusive nature. Recent market activity suggests strong demand for ICONA models, with the Monza SP1 and SP2 increasingly recognised as highly collectible Ferraris.
