About the Ferrari Roma

Introduced as a contemporary grand tourer, the Ferrari Roma captures the spirit of Italian Dolce Vita in a sleek and understated berlinetta form. Designed as a front-engined V8 GT, the Roma prioritises elegance and refinement while maintaining the sharp driving characteristics expected from Maranello.

Powered by a twin-turbocharged V8, the Roma delivers strong performance combined with everyday usability. In 2023, Ferrari expanded the range with the Roma Spider, featuring an electrically operated five-layer canvas roof that reinforces the model’s grand touring identity. The Roma sits within Ferrari’s front-engined V8 lineage, offering a balance between comfort, performance and timeless design.

Technical details

The Ferrari Roma is powered by Ferrari’s acclaimed 3.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. This eight-cylinder unit produces 620 horsepower 456 kW and 760 Nm of torque, delivered exclusively to the rear wheels. The Roma shares its chassis architecture with the Ferrari Portofino but features the newer 8-speed dual-clutch transmission derived from the Ferrari SF90. The gearbox delivers quicker shifts and improved efficiency compared to the previous 7-speed unit. Ferrari’s Variable Boost Management system adjusts torque delivery according to the selected gear, ensuring smooth yet progressive acceleration without noticeable turbo lag. The integration of advanced electronic systems ensures that hardware and software operate seamlessly, delivering both refinement in daily driving and responsiveness when pushed.

Performance

Despite its grand touring focus, the Ferrari Roma delivers genuine supercar performance. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 3.4 seconds, while acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h is completed in 9.4 seconds. The Roma reaches a top speed of 320 km/h. On the motorway, the Roma offers a comfortable and composed driving experience suited to long-distance travel. When driven on more demanding roads, the chassis and rear-wheel-drive layout reveal a dynamic and engaging character, highlighting the dual nature of this refined GT.

Exterior and interior design

Under the direction of Ferrari’s design chief Flavio Manzoni, the Ferrari Roma adopts a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Its front end features a shark-inspired nose, while the traditional round rear lights have been reinterpreted in a more contemporary rectangular form. Active aerodynamic elements, including movable front and rear spoilers, enhance stability without disrupting the car’s elegant silhouette.

Inside, the Roma presents a modern and driver-focused interior. A central touch interface integrates key controls, while most primary functions are operated via the multifunction steering wheel. The gear selector design pays tribute to Ferrari’s historic open-gate manual transmissions, blending heritage cues with modern technology.

Dimensions and weight

The Ferrari Roma is configured as a 2+ grand tourer. While rear seating space is limited, it provides additional practicality compared to traditional two-seat sports cars. The Roma has a curb weight of 1.570 kg and a dry weight of 1.470 kg. The Roma Spider is approximately 80 kg heavier than the coupé variant. The Ferrari Roma measures 4.656 mm in length, 1.974 mm in width and 1.301 mm in height, giving it balanced proportions consistent with a front-engined GT layout.

Prices

At launch, the Ferrari Roma carried a European base price of approximately €220.000 depending on specification and market. The Roma Spider commands a premium over the coupé due to its additional engineering and open-top configuration. Final transaction prices vary significantly based on options, mileage and market demand.
