When Ferrari unveiled the Amalfi last July as the successor to the Roma, it was only a matter of time before the open-top variant would follow. Today, that moment has arrived. Ferrari presents the Amalfi Spider, perfectly timed as spring begins and summer lies just ahead.

And perhaps this is the version to have. Among Ferrari’s so-called “entry-level” offerings, the Spider may well be the most evocative. Even the name Amalfi instantly conjures images of sun-drenched coastal roads, dramatic cliffs and effortless Italian elegance. One can hardly imagine a more fitting car to explore the Amalfi Coast.

Visually, the design remains faithful to the elegant silhouette introduced with the Roma. Crucially, Ferrari has ensured that the transition to an open-top configuration does not compromise the car’s flowing lines, something it achieves with remarkable success. In our view, the Amalfi Spider is a thoroughly resolved design, retaining the refinement of the coupé while adding an extra layer of desirability.

As expected, Ferrari has once again opted for a soft-top roof. It opens and closes in just 13.5 seconds and can be operated at speeds of up to 60 km/h. According to Ferrari, the five-layer fabric roof offers insulation and soundproofing comparable to that of a hardtop, ensuring comfort without sacrificing the open-air experience.

Technically, the Amalfi Spider remains identical to its closed sibling. Beneath the bonnet lies the same turbocharged 3.9-litre V8, producing 640 hp and 760 Nm of torque. Performance figures are equally impressive: 0–100 km/h is dispatched in 3.3 seconds, despite a modest weight increase of 86 kg over the coupé, bringing the total to 1,556 kg.

In short, the Amalfi Spider is exactly what you would hope for: a car that invites you to take on winding coastal roads and rolling hills, all while enjoying the unmistakable soundtrack of a Ferrari V8 with the roof down.
