Ferrari has unveiled its brand-new test track: Ferrari E-Vortex. In its official announcement, the Maranello marque offered no explanation for the name, but confirmed that construction of the new facility was completed in less than four months.
Located directly beside the legendary Pista di Fiorano, the E-Vortex circuit measures roughly two kilometres in length and, according to Ferrari, represents a significant step forward in the development and testing of its sports cars.
Purpose-Built for Precision
The circuit is divided into several dedicated sectors, each focused on a specific aspect of performance and driving pleasure. It includes two wide banked corners with longitudinal slope, a central straight, and a series of handling curves designed to analyse a car’s dynamic behaviour.
Yet Ferrari’s focus extends beyond outright performance. The E-Vortex track also serves as a testing ground for comfort and refinement. To achieve this, the engineers developed a special road surface made of porphyry paving, allowing for detailed measurements of ride quality.
Complementing Fiorano
Where Fiorano remains Ferrari’s high-speed performance benchmark, the E-Vortex is designed to replicate the sensations of spirited driving on real-world roads. Traditionally, Ferrari’s engineers tested prototypes in the hilly terrain surrounding Maranello, but the new facility now allows these evaluations to take place in-house, reducing on-road testing and minimising local disruption. That may be disappointing news for enthusiasts hoping to glimpse camouflaged Ferraris on the roads around Maranello.
